Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("ToS") govern your use of "sarmate.net" service. Please read them carefully.

1. Service description

The "sarmate.net" service (the "Service") provides users with storage space either to create and compile .tex files or to create pages in HTML format, subject to MB size limits stated for selected plan. Users may upload files in following formats: tex, html, css, json, js, jpeg, png, gif, eps.

The Service includes a web IDE that allows users to create, edit and share tex, html, css or js files.

TeX files are protected and accessible only by user (and any users explicitly shared with by author). All other file types are publicly accessible on user's cloud space.

2. User conduct

Users agree to:

Share only files or texts for which they own IP rights or have necessary permissions.
Not use Service to store/distribute content that violates third-party copyrights, trademarks or other IP rights.
Not use Service for illegal purposes or in breach of applicable laws.
Not upload harmful, offensive, defamatory content or content that infringes others' privacy.
Not attempt unauthorised access to other accounts or systems related to Service.
Not attempt to obtain more storage than allocated under their plan.

3. Intellectual Property

Users acknowledge that all content uploaded remains their exclusive property provided they hold rights. Sarmate.net acquires no ownership over users' files. Users must ensure their files do not violate any IP or other third-party rights. In case of infringement, users are fully liable and shall indemnify Sarmate.net against any claim.

4. Liability

Sarmate.net strives to provide a high-quality Service but does not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or fully secure operation. We cannot be held liable for any data loss, service interruption or any damage arising from use of Service. By using Service, you agree to indemnify us against any liability, claims or costs resulting from your breach of these ToS, including reasonable legal fees.

5. Changes to ToS

We may amend these ToS at any time without prior notice. You are responsible for reviewing them regularly. Continued use of Service after changes constitutes acceptance of new terms.

Terms of Sale — Subscriptions

These terms of sale govern paid subscriptions to Sarmate.net. The free plan involves no payment and is not covered by these terms.

1. Plans and pricing

Sarmate.net offers paid subscriptions at the following prices (in euros, VAT not applicable — art. 293 B of the French CGI) :

Perso: €3.99 per month, or €39.00 per year.
Pro: €9.99 per month, or €99.00 per year.
Institution: on quotation.

The applicable prices are those shown on the Pricing page at the time of subscription. The amount actually charged is the one shown at checkout, where applicable in the user's currency.

2. Subscription and payment

Payment is made online, by card, through our secure payment provider Stripe. Sarmate.net stores no banking data. Access to the chosen plan's features is granted as soon as payment is confirmed. The subscription runs for a monthly or yearly period, depending on the plan chosen.

3. Term and renewal

The subscription is entered into for the chosen period (monthly or yearly) and renews automatically for an identical period unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time (see section 4). Each renewal is billed, at term, at the price then in force.

4. Cancellation — no commitment

The subscription has no minimum term. It can be cancelled at any time, in one click, from your "My account" area (the "Cancel my subscription" button), or by a simple request to contact@sarmate.net. Cancellation is free and requires no justification.

Cancellation ends renewal: no further charge is made. You keep access to the paid features until the end of the period already paid for; your account then automatically returns to the free plan, with your files remaining accessible within its limits.

5. Right of withdrawal (14 days)

In accordance with the French Consumer Code (art. L. 221-18 et seq.), you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of subscription, without having to give a reason. To exercise it, simply notify us by e-mail at contact@sarmate.net or via the contact form. Although the service is digital content accessible immediately, Sarmate.net maintains your right of withdrawal: no waiver is requested at subscription.

6. Refund

If you withdraw within the 14-day period, the amount paid is fully refunded, on simple request to contact@sarmate.net or via the contact form. The refund is made through Stripe, to the same payment method, within 14 days of your request at most. Beyond that period, cancellation stops all future payments; the current period already paid for is not refunded, but you keep access to it until it ends.

7. Consumer mediation & applicable law

In the event of an unresolved dispute, you may use a consumer mediator free of charge, or the European online dispute resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. These terms are governed by French law. Any complaint may be sent to contact@sarmate.net.

8. Institution license (professional offer)

The Institution offer is intended for legal entities (schools, universities, labs, companies) and provides Pro features for a set number of seats, at the prices shown on the Institution pricing page (per seat, per year, VAT not applicable — art. 293 B French tax code). As a professional (B2B) subscription, it is not subject to the consumer-protection provisions above (right of withdrawal, automatic renewal). Access is opened upon receipt of the institution's purchase order; invoicing is electronic, where applicable via Chorus Pro (French public sector), with 30-day payment terms. The license runs for twelve (12) months with no automatic renewal; absent renewal, accounts revert to the free plan. Data protection: Sarmate.net acts as a processor under the GDPR for the institution's users' data; a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) can be signed on request at contact@sarmate.net.

Privacy Policy

At Sarmate.net, we take data protection seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it secure.

1. Information collected

When you create an account on "sarmate.net", we collect:

Last name
First name
Date of birth (to confirm legal age)
Email address (to communicate with you and manage your account)

This information is provided by you and stored in our database.

2. Use of information

Data is used solely to personalise Sarmate.net services and improve your experience. It is never shared with third-party services nor used for external purposes. We will never disclose your personal data.

3. Data security

We implement various measures to protect your personal data:

Password hashing: your password is encrypted; only you can know it. We cannot access or recover it. If forgotten, a reset procedure is available.
Invoices: invoices can be provided on request.

4. Files stored in your space

Your TeX files are protected and accessible only by you, unless you share them with a third party. HTML/CSS/JS files you create, as well as images you upload, are public. Do not store sensitive or unlawful content.

5. Cookies

We do not use tracking cookies. Your browsing on Sarmate.net is not tracked or analysed by cookies.

6. Your rights

In accordance with applicable law, you have right to access, rectify, request deletion of your data, or object to processing on legitimate grounds. To exercise your rights, contact: contact@sarmate.net.
