100 % EU — sovereign

🇫🇷 + 🇫🇷 = 🇪🇺

LaTeX × Le Chat (Mistral)
— a fully European stack

Connect Le Chat (Mistral, hosted in France) to your Sarmate LaTeX drive in one minute. Read, write, compile, restore points — your AI stays in the EU.

Why Sarmate × Le Chat?

Three arguments that make the difference for researchers, teachers and university administrations.

Full European sovereignty

Mistral runs its models in France. Sarmate compiles on o2switch (France) and Ionos (Frankfurt). No data leaves the EU — no logs, no embeddings.

No vendor lock-in

Use Le Chat today, switch to Claude or Gemini tomorrow — same token, same drive. Your LaTeX files stay yours — exportable in one click.

1-minute setup

No config file to edit, no bridge to install. Everything happens in the Le Chat web UI: Connector → Save → done. Usable immediately, no restart.

Connect in 4 steps

Requires a Sarmate Perso account (€3.99/month) or higher and a free Mistral account.

1

Create your token in Sarmate

File manager → MCP icon top-right → Create token. You can restrict access to a subfolder or set it read-only.

2

Open Le Chat, Connectors panel

On chat.mistral.ai: left-hand sidebar → IntelligenceConnectors+ Add Connector.

3

Select "Custom MCP Connector" and fill in

Custom MCP Connector tab, then fill in:

  • Connector name (large title at top) : Sarmate (required)
  • Connector server : https://mcp.sarmate.net/mcp
  • Description (optional) : Sarmate.net
  • Authentication method : API token authentication
  • Header name : Authorization
  • Header type : Bearer
  • Header value : smt_… (your Sarmate token)

Paste the token only (smt_…) in the value — do NOT prefix with "Bearer": the "Header type" field already handles it.

4

Click "Create" — and you're done

Le Chat sees your Sarmate drive immediately. Ask it: "List my .tex files", "Fix main.tex and compile it", "Create a CV draft in /cv/".

Who benefits most?

French universities

Several universities are switching to Mistral as their internal AI. Sarmate completes the offer with a sovereign LaTeX editor — same legal framework, same region.

Researchers with GDPR data

Clinical, administrative or personal data in your appendices? A fully European stack (AI + editor) removes US data transfer risk.

Public sector

Public reports, course materials, administrative documents: Sarmate × Le Chat meets digital sovereignty requirements without compromising on comfort.

FAQ

Do I need a paid Le Chat account?
No. Custom MCP connectors are available on all Le Chat plans (Free, Pro, Student). You only need a Mistral account and a Sarmate token (from the Perso plan, €3.99/month).
Where is my data processed?
Mistral runs its models in the EU (France). Sarmate hosts with o2switch (France) and compiles on Ionos (Frankfurt). You stay within a fully European legal framework — GDPR, no Cloud Act.
Can Le Chat really compile my .tex files?
Yes. Via the compile tool, Sarmate compiles the .tex server-side (xelatex / pdflatex / lualatex), bundles all dependencies (\input, \includegraphics, packages, bibliography) and returns the log + the PDF URL. Le Chat can then iterate autonomously to fix errors — like a human teammate.
Le Chat vs OpenAI Prism — what is the difference?
Prism is locked to GPT-5.2 (US) and hosted by OpenAI. Sarmate × Le Chat is a fully European stack: AI in France, editor in France, no US data transfer, no single-vendor lock-in (you can also use Claude, Gemini, Cursor, with the same token).
How safe is the token?
Tokens are stored bcrypted, can be restricted to a subfolder and/or read-only, and are revocable in one click. Every call is recorded in the audit log. MCP deletions are intentionally disabled (protection against AI hallucinations). Before every write, a snapshot is taken (30-day retention).

Ready for a fully European LaTeX stack?

Create your account, generate your token, paste it into Le Chat — and Mistral becomes your LaTeX teammate, without leaving the EU.
