> Sarmate.net is a free online LaTeX, HTML/CSS/JS, and office editor with real-time PDF compilation. Hosted in France (EU). ## MCP server (Model Context Protocol)

Sarmate exposes an authenticated MCP server at `https://mcp.sarmate.net/mcp` (streamable HTTP, Bearer token auth, available from the Perso plan onwards — free plan is excluded). External AI clients can:

- **Read** files (list_files, read_file, search_files), check compile logs (get_compile_log), read account info (get_account_info)
- **Write** files (write_file, create_file, rename_file) — every write creates a 30-day-retention snapshot for restore
- **Compile** .tex files (compile tool) and get back the log + PDF URL — letting the AI iterate autonomously to fix LaTeX errors
- **History** (list_history, restore_version) — browse and roll back to any snapshot

Deletion via MCP is intentionally disabled (safety against AI hallucinations). Tokens are stored bcrypted, scoped optionally to a folder and/or read-only, and revocable in one click. Audit log records every call.

## Compilers supported

pdfLaTeX, XeLaTeX, LuaLaTeX, plain LaTeX (DVI→PDF for PSTricks). Auto-switching between compilers when needed (e.g., raster images → pdflatex). BibTeX and Biber for bibliographies.
